Inventor, Engineer, Idea Man
Adam has a drive rarely seen when it comes to "chasing whitey." Winters are far too long and he'll often be spotted driving aimlessly around a white and frozen South Dakota long before the first snows of the spring even reach the rain water basin in Nebraska. But it's that crazy desire to shoot the very first snows that cross the Missouri River and the last juvy to leave state side that makes Adam one of the most devoted SOB hunters in the Midwest.
Adam is the inventor of the White Rock Decoys Tuf-Snap Collapsible Support System and our incredibly popular Bind Door Decoys. An engineer by trade, Adam's professional experience working with composites, plastics, molds, and design programs makes him a pivotal part of the White Rock Decoy team.
...and we hunt like you!
We're not big industry guys, professional hunting guides, or TV show hosts.
We hunt like you, live like you, and joke like you...and if we happen to be scouting the same feed as you, we're happy to share a field!
In the end we're just three close friends that have been chasing waterfowl together for a long time, and have a great time doing it.
We strive to provide cutting edge high-quality gear that works for us...because we know if we're happy with it, you will be too.
Business Development, Sales Lead
James works long hours to ensure the White Rock team finds success every time they hit the field. Growing up as a Mississippi River rat, his many long days chasing greenheads in the marsh quickly translated into an unending love for large flocks of decoying spring snows. Where many struggle to get into the sport, James quickly learned and adapted and consistently has great snow goose shoots in the fall and spring all across the upper Midwest, prairie Canada, and as far north as Hudson Bay.
With his strong business sense, bubbly personality, and sales experience, James has taken the lead in creating White Rock Decoys into a well managed small business.
Creative and Marketing
Jake's father introduced him to waterfowl hunting at the young age of 4. He has never looked back. Over the years his drive for the hunt has grown into a passion for photographing and recording the experiences. Jake is more likely to grab the camera than shoulder a gun on the "good" hunts anymore, and he is more than fine with that.
Jake has many years of experience working in the outdoor industry, an industry that fits his lifestyle well. A master in graphic design, videography, and photography, Jake handles all the creative needs for White Rock Decoys.
Every good idea should begin with beer and a Mississippi River sand bar camp fire. That is exactly where our story started. It was summer of 2009, fresh out of college, and as with most summers, all we were really doing was wasting time and thinking about fall.
"There's got to be a better way. - What if "it did this".
The vision had been born.
By late summer 2009 we had working prototypes of the "Tuf-snap Collapsible Support System", and we released it to the snow goose hunting world that fall. The response was great with some big industry names praising the design. It was a first of its kind.
As with any small company, there were a lot of late nights spent in the garage those first couple years. Packing boxes, counting push nuts, and cutting bungee. Every Saturday throughout the winter the boys would get together for another "decoy party".
Those who have been with us since the beginning remember tying bungee and assembling windsock supports for hours. As we dialed in our manufacturing over the years we were able to offer the best support system on the market fully assembled by the spring of 2012. We rejoiced right along with you.
Over the first 5 years we worked hard to develop the most functional and realistic line of windsock decoys ever to hit a corn field. Partnered with our ground breaking Blind Door Decoys, the popularity of hunting over big spreads of windsocks has grown amongst die hard mobile waterfowl hunters (they ain't just for snows anymore!) and we are proud to lead the charge.
Crossroads are the Best Roads
At that point we hit a crossroads. We had developed a full line of windsock decoys, but where do we go from there? As most decoy companies hit a plateau and start to re-invent what they already make, what they're comfortable with, we decided to go "all in" and rethink the rest of the decoy world. Flyers, fullbodies, silhouettes, and most recently floaters decoys....although the realism had gotten better over the last decade, we have more or less seen the same re-designed hard plastic cutout for many years. So we reverted back to our original concept - "There's got to be a better way!"
We faced these new projects head on with our windsock snow goose hunting philosophy. Mobile and storable without compromising quality, realism, or durability. With the goal to invent something new and better with every step.
The Innovation Has and Will Continue
Look for some big things coming from this little company in the coming seasons. But in the mean time, if you're reading the reports page, know it's actually coming from our hunting trips. If you've got a warranty issue, take comfort in knowing you'll be talking directly to one of us. And if you don't get an immediate response to an email in late November, please be patient, as we're probably just out hunting that infamous sand bar on the Mississippi River.
